ZOE'S GUIDE TO STABLE-TO-STREET STYLE
I've never really been someone who has two wardrobes.
Most days start at the stables and end somewhere completely different. One minute I'm riding, the next I'm in a meeting, catching a flight or heading out for dinner. Over the years, I've realised I naturally gravitate towards clothes that can move with me throughout the day.
Comfort has always come first, but I never want comfort to mean compromising on style.
My wardrobe is built around good basics. A great oversized shirt, a cashmere knit, a cargo pant, the perfect white T-shirt, an oversized blazer or hoodie... pieces that work together without having to think too much. I love following fashion and seeing trends evolve, but I don't feel the need to wear every trend exactly as it is. I prefer taking inspiration from them and making them my own.
If I wear oversized trousers, I'll usually pair them with a more fitted top. If I'm wearing something oversized on top, I'll keep the rest of the outfit cleaner and more fitted. I think it's all about balance.
I don't wear a lot of prints either. I naturally gravitate towards neutral colours and timeless pieces, then elevate the outfit with the right accessories. A beautiful pair of shoes, jewellery, a great bag or the perfect jacket can completely change a look without making it feel overdone.
People are often surprised that I don't really wear heels. Even when I dress up for dinner, you'll usually find me in a slingback mule, a ballerina flat or a sneaker. I love a shoe that's elegant but still feels effortless.
When the weather is nice, you'll almost always find me in a matching set or an easy dress. There's something about putting on one piece and instantly feeling put together.

And then there are the stables.
Besides my riding clothes, I'm almost always wearing my Alo sneakers, a cap and my hair thrown back in a clip. I never really wear makeup, especially at horse shows. My mornings often start with a workout before walking into town for a coffee, still in my activewear, before heading back to get ready to compete. I love that activewear has become part of everyday fashion because it fits so naturally into my lifestyle.
One thing I think people often get wrong about equestrian style is that it has to feel very traditional or countryside-inspired. For me, it doesn't.
I love mixing classic riding pieces with more contemporary fashion. An oversized hoodie over breeches, a cool bomber jacket, or even just a colourful belt can completely change the look while still feeling true to the sport. You don't have to lose the heritage of equestrian style to make it feel modern.
At the end of the day, my style isn't about following rules. It's about wearing pieces that make me feel comfortable, confident and like myself.
And if an outfit can take me from the stable, to a meeting, to dinner without needing to change... that's probably my favourite kind of outfit.
Love,
Zoé ♡
